Arty Party

I am an elementary art teacher just outside Detroit, MI. This blog was made to share lessons. I hope you enjoy some of the cool stuff my students create.

Op Art

I do this project with my forth grade students at the beginning of the year. They draw vertical and horizontal lines then trace a variety of circles. The key is to not have your circles' edges overlap- that just gets too confusing. Then they choose a color for their pattern. The fast students get to use a second color instead of white.

Abstract Name Design

I do this at beginning of the year with my fifth grade students. I have them write their names in cursive 10 times. The key is to have the first and last letter touch edges and to have lots of overlapping.
